Compared to conventional thermal insulation materials of the same strength, S 4000 supplies the same thermal insulating effect with boards that are only half as thick. The requirements of currently applicable standards are exceeded in this respect. Material Composition Technical Data*: The grade S 4000® HT is a new development on the basis of selected glass mats of very equal density. The binding is made by an extremely high temperature resistant resin. Due to its high shear, compressive and flexural strength this grade meets multiple technical demands. Special Material Characteristics Low coefficient of thermal conductivity, therefore a very high capacity of thermal insulation Very high polymer crosslinkage and consequently outstanding continuous thermal stability Excellent chemical resistance Permanent dimension and inherent stability Range of Application The stability at high thermal loads during operation has been considerably increased compared to standard grades, which enables the use as well for injection moulding tools, press and diecasting moulds as for piston, platen and frame insulations for the operation of presses. At extreme load cycles and continuous high temperature loads above 220 °C material systems in combination with BRANDENBURER heat shield grades can considerably increase the operating reliability. Thermal Insulating Boards and component parts made of S 4000® HT considerably help to protect machinery and tools and increase the process security and availability of equipment for thermoforming.
