This high-tech thermal insulation board material is popular in applications where thermal and mechanical stress occur together.
Description:
This material is based on a matrix of high- temperature resistant polymers and special glass silk fabrics. This clearly distinguishes KV 3 from other thermal insulation materials. Typical applications are thermally and mecha- nically high-stressed heated presses and moulds. In addition KV 3 is used to insulate drop forge dies, in the design of soldering masks and in many other applications.

The high-tech grade KV 3 is used for thermal insulation. The board is bound with high-quality polymers and enhanced with special glass silk fibres.

The special composition of KV 3 offers extra- ordinarily high mechanical stability combined with excellent continuous thermal stability and high resistance to distortion under permanent strain.

Range of Application
KV 3 is primarily used as construction material for machine components that are subjected to high mechanical and thermal loads. It is used for thermal insulation in those cases when unusually high requirements have to be met with regard to mechanical and, particularly, thermal loads. Often, KV 3 is used in combination with other thermal insulating boards as a heat-shield.
Heat protection boards constitute thermal insulating components in presses and other heated production facilities. They help prevent machine over-heating and thus distortion of the equipment or the pistons in particular. Also, considerable energy savings are possible and may lead to lower production costs. In addition, tools and heating platens are heated evenly.
As heat protection plate, KV 3 is used wherever mechanical stress is complemented by extraordinarily high thermal stress and material requirements.
In many applications, KV 3 is combined with other heat protection plates to form a heat shield. Possible areas of application are piston, frame and pressure plate insulation.
